History Of Moncks Corner

The town of Moncks Corner is located in Berkeley County, South Carolina. Named for landowner Thomas Monck, the settlement dates back to 1728. It began as a trading post with a few taverns and stores. The Northeastern Railroad laid its tracks in 1856 and the Depot became the center of the new Town of Moncks Corner.

It is recorded by the South Carolina Secretary of State’s office that the municipality of the Town of Moncks Corner was chartered on December 26, 1885. In celebration of the town's 125th birthday, we, the students in Mr. Eason's Web Page 2 class, have created this web site to highlight the history, the buildings, and the people of Moncks Corner. Mr. Eason's future students will carry on this project, completing more 3D buildings and adding recorded interviews with Moncks Corner residents.
