Guilds House

The Guilds House was used as the first public school in Moncks Corner. Actually, school was held in the kitchen. Annie Hare McCants was the first teacher. She was hired in 1913 and had thirteen students that first year, including Arthur W. McCants, Sr. (her son), Jenny and Lucille Gibson, Jasper Murry, Ophelia Jolly, Ivey Jones, Inez and Mildred Droze, Lucille Dennis, and Annie Bell Kirk.

Annie Hare McCants was the paternal grandmother of current Moncks Corner resident, Ed McCants. Ed and his wife, Annegell, provided background information for this project. In fact, their residence, My Pineland Place, is another building we will model in 3D using Google SketchUp.

Cameron Bunn '12 created the 3D model of the Guilds House. Click on the image below to jump directly to his model at 211 West Main Street in Google Maps. If you have Google Earth installed, you can copy and paste the address (211 West Main Street, Moncks Corner, SC) there to see the 3D model.
